Who am I

My name is Marcel van Kanten. I have been working as Senior Social Media Consultant at KREM since March 2010. KREM, one of the first innovative social media companies in the Netherlands, has a great deal of knowledge and a varied client base. This makes is enjoyable for me to work at KREM.

I investigate companies and organisations and advise them on how social media can provide added value. In my previous job as a consultant for Online Reputations Management at KLM Corporate Communications I became fascinated by the boundless possibilities that social media can provide for companies. The world has changed. The explosive growth and worldwide popularity of social media have toppled the traditional media from their monopoly position of information provider. The people have now become their own media. Everyone is talking to each other and sharing knowledge and information about you, your company, products and services in an increasing number of online communities, blogs and forums. It has become inevitable that you have to think differently about how you as a company wish to position yourself and communicate in this world. It is inspiring to work with clients, often from scratch, to discover wonderful opportunities and implement new social media strategies.
