Overview of #TSC12: leading thoughts, engaged audience

Yana van den Bor · 13 February 2012

Overview of #TSC12: leading thoughts, engaged audience On Thursday the 9th of February the 5th edition of The Social Conference, formerly known as CSN Conference, took place. The conference was about the impact, usage and future of social media in business. The Social Conference took place in Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam and was organized by KREM and Emerce. With 350 visitors and 35 international speakers Amsterdam was “the social capital of Europe” on the 9th of February.

Internationale ‘thoughtleaders’
The conference started with keynote speaker Fons Trompenaars, who brought the audience in a good mood with funny anecdotes about the manner in which different cultures deal with the dilemma’s coming with social media. Other keynote speakers were Olivier Blanchard (known from the book ‘Social Media ROI’) and Deirdre Breakenridge (known from the book ‘Putting the public back in public relations’). During the social talks and presentations subjects as Gamification, International Strategy and Privacy were covered.

Food for thought
The presentations and social talks triggered a lot of enthousiasm and ‘food for thought’. This is not only based on the good conversations with the KREM meetingpoints, the votes on ratethespeaker.nl, but also on the many reactions and quotes on Twitter. ‘#TSC12’ and ‘Fons Trompenaars’ were since 10.00 o'clock even Trending Topic in the Netherlands.
